Dr. Lauren Lewandowski is the lead orthodontist at
Advanced Orthodontics Everett. She is board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and a Diamond Apex Invisalign Provider, among the top 1% nationwide, and she treats children, teens, and adults across Everett and Mill Creek.
Patients know Dr. Lewandowski for her warmth, her attention to detail, and her genuine care for the families she sees every day. She brings a whole-health focus to orthodontics and treats every smile as part of the whole person. As she puts it, “I always look forward to serving my patients and being a positive presence in their lives and our community.”
Dr. Lewandowski’s Story
Dr. Lewandowski grew up in Queens, New York, with her parents and younger brother, a long way from the Pacific Northwest she now calls home. Her path to orthodontics started in the ninth grade. She had big dreams of being on Broadway, but after realizing her singing voice was not quite star quality, she began paying close attention to the professionals around her.
“My orthodontist was a poised, intelligent woman to whom I gave the utmost respect,” she recalls. “I admired the way she interacted with me, my family, other patients, and team members. After a few afternoons of shadowing, it was an easy decision to pursue a career in orthodontics.” Today, she gets to create the kind of confident smiles that change how people feel about themselves. “Who knows,” she says, “perhaps my patients will find their way to the stage.”
Education and Training
- Bachelor of Arts, Biological Anthropology: Binghamton University, New York
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS): University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine
- Master of Science, Orthodontics (MSD): University of Washington
At Binghamton University, Dr. Lewandowski majored in Biological Anthropology with a certificate in Evolutionary Studies, swam for the club swim team, and served as a resident assistant for three years. At the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, she launched the school’s first wellness initiative, led its volunteer outreach organization, and helped edit and design the student newsletter. She then completed her orthodontic specialty training and earned her master’s degree through the University of Washington’s respected orthodontic program.
Board Certification and Why It Matters
Dr. Lewandowski is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), the gold standard credential in the specialty. Board certification is a voluntary step that goes beyond the schooling required to practice orthodontics. To earn it, an orthodontist must present and defend detailed records of completed patient cases before a panel of examiners, demonstrating consistently excellent results. Not every orthodontist chooses to take this step, so when you see your orthodontist is board certified, you can trust that an independent board has reviewed the quality of their work.
She is also a Diamond Apex Invisalign Provider, a tier reserved for the most experienced Invisalign providers based on the number and complexity of cases treated. Together, these credentials give Everett and Mill Creek families a rare combination: a board-certified specialist who is also among the most accomplished Invisalign providers in the country.
Professional memberships: American Board of Orthodontics (Diplomate), American Association of Orthodontists.
Published Research
Dr. Lewandowski’s commitment to evidence-based care extends to the field itself. She co-authored a 2024 study published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, the specialty’s leading peer-reviewed journal, examining how adults with anterior open bite weigh their treatment options, including
jaw surgery. Contributing to research like this is part of how she stays current with the best evidence in orthodontics for her Everett and Mill Creek patients.
Her Approach to Patient Care
Dr. Lewandowski is comfortable treating patients of all ages, including those with special needs, and she has experience with complex cases that require working alongside other dentists to rebuild bites and smiles. She is especially passionate about
airway orthodontics, a whole-health approach that considers how a child breathes and how the jaw grows, not just whether the teeth are straight. As a Diamond Apex Provider, she also offers
Invisalign for teens and adults. Using modern tools like iTero digital scanning, she makes treatment more comfortable and more precise, and she takes the time to explain every option so you can make a confident decision for yourself or your child.
Beyond the Office
When she is not creating smiles, Dr. Lewandowski enjoys trying new restaurants and food trucks, seeing musicals and plays, traveling, and hiking around the Pacific Northwest. She has worked on her sourdough skills, cares for her many houseplants, and shares her home with a fluffy puppy named Bagel. She will also happily admit that a trip to Trader Joe’s is one of her favorite things to do.
“I am thrilled to be part of a profession I dreamed about for over a decade,” she says. “I always look forward to serving my patients and being a positive presence in their lives and our community.”
Carrying a Trusted Practice Forward
Advanced Orthodontics Everett was founded by Dr. John Stieber, who cared for smiles across Everett and Mill Creek for decades. Dr. Lewandowski is proud to carry that tradition forward, bringing board-certified expertise and a whole-health approach to the same community Dr. Stieber served so well.
